Fifteenth Street Meeting, 15 Rutherford Place, New York, NY

Please join the NYC War Resisters League’s 100th Anniversary Committee and Peace & Social Justice Committee of the 15th Street Quaker Meeting for a program to welcome this historic antinuclear sailboat.

In 1958, anti-nuclear weapons and Quaker activists set sail aboard the Golden Rule intending to physically obstruct the atmospheric U.S. nuclear weapons tests in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean.

In 2015, newly restored by Veterans For Peace, the Golden Rule set sail with the new mission to warn about the imminent dangers of a renewed nuclear arms race and to promote the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. They are currently sailing up the East Coast of the U.S. on a “Great Loop” that started in California. See vfpgoldenruleproject.org.
